Veteran Indian men’s doubles tennis player Rohan Bopanna has withdrawn his name from the Indian team for the Davis Cup match against Pakistan due to a shoulder injury. After Bopanna is left out of the team, now Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan can get a place in the team. The left-handed Nedunchezhiyan was placed among the three reserve players in the eight-man squad.
Coach Zeeshan Ali said, Bopanna has cited a shoulder injury as the reason for the withdrawal. He has an MRI scan of his shoulder on Monday, which he has shared with us. The 39-year-old Bopanna was expected to pair up with the legendary Leander Paes for the matches against Pakistan on 29th and 30th November. Bopanna is the country’s top doubles player.
