Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) is contesting Assembly elections in Maharashtra with 72 of its candidates in the fray but it appears that the party won’t even prove to be a vote cutter against the BJP-Shiv Sena combine. The party did not field candidate in Worli Assembly constituency.
People in Mumbai, Thane and neighboring areas are of the view that BJP, Shiv Sena and MNS have the similar kind of politics except Marathi pride where Shiv Sena is a better and stronger claimant than MNS. A Mumbai resident Kundan Lokhande says, “It is sheer waste to vote for MNS as BJP and Shiv Sena are way ahead of the MNS. Moreover, MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s meeting with Sonia Gandhi has heavily dented his image among people who talk Maratha pride.”
People have gone to the extent of saying that MNS is in the fray to damage the BJP-SS alliance for obvious reasons.
