Baghel govt demotion of 3 police officers, including IPS Mukesh Gupta

Chhattisgarh’s Bhupesh Baghel cabinet has canceled the promotion order of three police officers promoted during the last Dr. Raman Singh government. These include IPS Mukesh Gupta, IPS RK Vij and IPS Sanjay Pillai. These three officers were promoted to the post of DG by the former Dr. Raman Sarkar. In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday night under the chairmanship of CM Bhupesh Baghel, it was decided to cancel the promotion order.
Senior Minister Ravindra Choubey gave information about the matter while discussing the media after the cabinet meeting. Minister Ravindra Choubey said that the promotion order of 1988 batch IPS Sanjay Pillay, RK Vij and Mukesh Gupta has been canceled after the Home Department of the Government of India did not give consent. This is the first time in the state that three senior IPS officers have been demoted.
All the three police officers were promoted to the post of ADG to DG before the Code of Conduct of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018 came into force. Earlier, IPS SK Paswan was demoted for not getting central government approval. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey told that the previous government had promoted these officers without permission. In such a situation, the state government has taken this decision due to the permission from the Home Department of the Central Government.
