Gujarat will prove to be a role model for natural farming : CM

Gandhinagar, Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat is moving forward with a firm determination and will prove to be a role model in the country for natural farming. Our Government has come up with several planned and timely steps for farmers.

On the occasion of 70th Birth Anniversary of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, Mr. Rupani e- launched statewide Desi Gay and Jivamrut Yojana under the second phase of ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’ to boost natural farming. The function, which was held at 70 places in the state, was attended by Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitin Patel and cabinet members from Gandhinagar.

Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat wished Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi on his birth anniversary on the occasion of launching of two schemes for natural farming under ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’. Indigenous cow based natural agriculture will protect water, land and environment. This scheme will

Mr. Devvrat said that Cow is connected with Indian culture our vedas also describe ગાવો વિશ્વસ્ય માતરઃ i.e cow is considered as mother of the world. We also worship cow. Under ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’ the state government has provided Rs. 900 assistance as well Rs. 1350 equipment assistance to farmers for natural agriculture to make natural fertilizers made with the help of cow dung and cow urine which will provide a new impetus to the farmers of Gujarat for natural agriculture.

Describing the Padma Shri Subhash Palekar-inspired natural agriculture taking place in 200 acres of land in Gurukul Kurukshetra, the Governor said, his agricultural method increases the fertility of the soil, protects the water, soil and environment as well as the conservation of indigenous cows. With the help of cow dung and cow urine, natural farming can be done in 30 acres of land. This method will increase the income of farmers as the cost of agriculture is negligible. To realize our Prime Ministers Vision of doubling farmer’s income by 2022 natural farming will be a strong alternative.

Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani wished and prayed for a long and healthy life to the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi on behalf of 6.5 crore Gujaratis” on his 70th Birth Anniversary. He added that the state’s agricultural growth rate has reached double digits as a result of the Krishi Mahotsav, which was started by the Prime Minister when he was the Chief Minister of the state.

Gujarat has taken various steps to realize Prime Minister’s vision to double the farmer’s income by 2022. These two steps will prove to be of utmost importance in the second phase of the ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’. I am confident that helping the farmers of the state to turn to subsistence farming through indigenous cow based farming and natural farming methods will bring a ray of new hope for the farmers, added CM.

We are determined to realize Pandit Deen Dayalji’s mantra “Har Haath Ko Kaam, Har Khet Ko Pani”. If farmers get enough water and seeds, certain production will increase. In the past, farmers were given loans at 18 per cent interest. Today, we are giving loans at zero per cent interest, as a result, farmers’ farm production has increased and have become financially sound, he said.

The construction of the Narmada Sardar Sarovar project, the lifeline of Gujarat to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers, was hampered during the UPA government which the Prime Minister completed. We are providing irrigation facility to the farmers through 700 km of Narmada canals.  Sauni Yojana in Saurashtra, Sujalam Sufalam Yojana in North Gujarat and Narmada Canal Yojana in Kutch have provided irrigation facilities to the farmers.

Our government has saved the standing crop of farmers by implementing Jyotigram scheme to provide sustainable and quality electricity to the farmers. Now they get 24 hours quality and uninterrupted electricity.

He said that the new approach of ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’ will result in farmers turning to natural farming and zero budget farming, which will reduce costs. He said that with the inspiration of the Governor, success has been achieved in expanding the scope of natural agriculture in the state. Due to zero budget farming, the farmer will no longer have to worry and the crop production will increase by cultivating based on indigenous cows.

Provision of Rs. 66.50 crore for 105000 beneficiaries and provision of Rs. 13.50 crore have been made to benefit 100000 farmers under these two schemes.

In his welcome address, Minister of State for Agriculture Mr. Jaydrath Sinh Parmar gave detailed information about the ‘Saat Pagla Khedut Kalyanna Yojana’ and urged the farmers to turn to natural farming. On the occasion dignitaries presented token cheque in the form of assistance to farmers for cow based farming.

On this occasion, Secretary of Agriculture Department Mr. Manish Bhardwaj along with officials of Agriculture Department and office bearers and farmers from various district headquarters were present.
