GNS 9New Delhi): Though West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is known for her mercurial temperament but this is also wrong to say that her sudden outburst against AIMIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi does not have any provocation and is uncalled for at least politically.
So to say, the entire politics of Mamata Banerjee is focused on to keep Muslims a monolith vote bank for the TMC but AIMIM has started eroding its Muslim vote bank in the state threatening her status of lone savior of the causes of minority. So she tried to attack the BJP and AIMIM simultaneously by calling Owaisi a stooge of the BJP who takes money from the party.
The growing base of in the bordering areas of Bihar with West Bengal with AIMIM winning Kisanganj Assembly election in recent Bihar by-polls and even in the mainland West Bengal has caused a concern for the TMC. Mamata, who is known for her cynical attitude, did not hesitate to make such allegations. Though voting pattern of Muslim is the same in the country to vote for the party defeating the BJP but no such mechanism is yet in place to realize this in toto.
So Mamata is apprehensive that if there are claimants like the Congress, Communists and the new entrant AIMIM for Muslim vote who all claim to be champions of secularism and vie for Muslim vote, calculation of Banerjee will go haywire. This is the reason that started faceoff between Mamata and Owaisi.
