West Indies defeated Afghanistan

West Indies took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series by defeated Afghanistan by 30 runs in the first T20 match thanks to a blast innings from opener Evin Lewis (68) and an all-round performance by man of the match Kieron Pollard. The West Indies team scored 164 runs for five wickets after batting first at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. In response, Afghanistan’s team could only manage 134 runs after losing nine wickets. In addition to Kesrick Williams (3 for 17), Kieron Pollard (2 wickets) and Hayden Walls (2 wickets) played an important role in tying the hosts’ bundle, while the remaining two wickets were shared by Sheldon Cottrell and Jason Holder. Pollard, after performing well with the ball and bat, cleverly kept the hosts tied throughout the match. The explosive innings of West Indies opener Evin Lewis (68) in the match, which started about 15 minutes late due to fogging, entertained about 12,000 spectators present on the field. From the start of the match, the 27-year-old Trinidad batsman started flaunting the Afghanistan bowling attack and completed his fifth half-century on 26 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes, regardless of falling wickets at the other end.Luis, who is a big threat to Afghanistan, returned to the pavilion in the 12th over of the match, making an easy catch to Mohammad Nabi, standing at long-off, in an attempt to hook Gulbadin Naib’s ball. During his half-century innings, Luis played 41 balls and hit six sixes and delivered the ball four times. Earlier in the first over of the match, Afghanistan had their first breakthrough as Brandon King playing debut match when Mujeeb Ur Rahman bowled him. Later, Lewis was supported by Shimron Hetmyer (21) and wicketkeeper batsman Denesh Ramdin (20).
