India’s women’s badminton player Saina Nehwal’s poor performance continued at the Hong Kong Open here on Wednesday and she was knocked out of the tournament after losing in the first round. China’s Cai Yanyan defeated World No. 9 Saina 21-13, 22-20 in straight games in the first round of the women’s singles category of the tournament with a prize money of four million dollars. Saina is currently going through a very bad phase of her career. They have lost five of the last six in the first round of the tournament.
The Chinese took just 30 minutes to win the first round match against Saina. In the first game, the Chinese players dominated from the beginning and won easily and took the lead in the match. Saina did not give up easily in the second round. Even after the Chinese players were ahead 18-14, Saina scored her next five points.
However, in the final moments, she could not stay restrained and was eliminated from the competition.
