US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has stated that the Foreign Ministry will follow the law in impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. Pompeo is on a trip to Greece. He told reporters that he had sent a letter to the Congress on Friday night in this regard and the Ministry of External Affairs did so in relation to the document sought by a Congress committee.
“Certainly we will do everything that will be legally required to do,” Pompeo said. He said, I have been a member of Congress, Article one has certain powers, and Article two talked about ensuring the defense of the officials of the Ministry of External Affairs.
There have been several investigations in the Congress Committee in which the employees of the Ministry of External Affairs were harassed as they directly approached the employees and demanded to provide the documents. These documents are from the State Department and are official US government records. When Pompeo was questioned regarding the appropriateness of the investigation against Trump, he said that it certainly involved politics.
