In the holy Shardiya Navaratri, the world-famous pilgrimage site Vaishno Devi Bhavan as well as the base camp Katra has been fully buzzed with devotees. By four o’clock on Sunday, the first day of Navratri, around 20 thousand devotees had registered themselves and left for Vaishno Devi Bhavan. Its figure was continuously increasing. On Saturday before Navratri, around 45 thousand devotees attended the feet of Maa Vaishno Devi. The Shatchandi Mahayagya started on Sunday in Saraswati Bhawan on the building of Maa Vaishno Devi in the holy Sharadiya Navratri. In this yagna, 51 famous pundits perform day-night puja-archana and havan, under the supervision of the pandit Dr. Vishwamurthy Shastri. Yajna will continue. Alam of the crowd of devotees gathered in Navratri is that devotees were seen standing in long queues waiting for registration in the base camp Katra. The devotees were seen waiting in queues for about one to one and a half kilometers long queues for darshan at Vaishno Devi Bhavan.
The 24th Shardiya Navratri Festival began on Sunday at Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi. The ceremony was inaugurated by Governor KK Sharma, advisor to the Governor, lighting the holy light of the mother amidst the drums and the grand procession. In the special guest PMO at the festival, Minister of State, Dr. Jitendra said that with the people of the state, the country has got its first opportunity to celebrate this in Katra after the removal of Article 370. With the inauguration of the festival, the city’s Jammu road was connected with the richness of the country and cultural and religious tableaux. School students took out an awareness rally about not using polythene and plastic.
