Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar has said that preparations are being made to send him to jail. The Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar have been booked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Maharashtra’s cooperative bank scam. Responding to this, Sharad Pawar said that he has no problem in going to jail. Referring to the case registered in the cooperative bank scam, NCP Chief Pawar said, “I will not have any problem if I have to go to jail.”
This will make me happy because I have never experienced going to jail before. If someone is preparing to send me to jail, I welcome it. Many bank officials are also in the dock in the cooperative bank scam of about 25 thousand crores. The ED on Tuesday registered a case against 70 others including Sharad Pawar in money laundering and other cases. In the scam, an FIR was filed by the Mumbai Police last month.
The Bombay High Court had ordered an FIR to be registered against Sharad Pawar and other accused on the basis of the facts presented in the court in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam. Bank officials from different districts of Maharashtra have also been accused in this scam between 2007 and 2011.
