Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party led by actor turned politician Kamal Haasan has hit Tamil Nadu state government for not opposing the Centre’s ‘one-nation-one-ration-card’ scheme that would have an adverse impact on the public distribution system (PDS) in the state. The party said that the scheme would endanger the federal structure of the nation.
“It is not clear whether the Centre will bear the expenses of the subsidised items distributed through PDS to the workers from other states. There is no clear policy decision regarding this yet,” the party said. “MNM strongly believes that the scheme will endanger the federal structure of the country. The party will strongly condemn the implementation of the scheme in Tamil Nadu,” the statement further said.
