Jaishankar says that after the removal of article 370, law and order and security is the priority of the government. Banning internet and mobile connectivity was necessary to prevent contact with terrorists and their masters.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said these things in an interview given to a newspaper. He said, without affecting the Kashmiris, it was not possible to stop the terrorists from contacting their leader. How can it be that only the communication of terrorists and their masters should be banned and the internet facility should remain operational for the rest of Kashmiris. Obviously this cannot happen.
Foreign Minister Jaishankar, who arrived in Brussels after a visit to Russia, Poland and Hungary, gave an opinion on the Kashmir issue in an interview given to the newspaper there. He also said that as long as Pakistan does not stop terrorist activities on its soil, India will not talk to it. Rejecting Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s offer to negotiate the Kashmir issue with certain conditions, Jaishankar said, “Pakistan is openly sheltering terrorists on its soil.” In such a situation, India cannot negotiate with him in any way.
The Foreign Minister has also dismissed reports of shortage in supply of medicines and essentials amid restrictions in Kashmir. He said, ‘Things are slowly returning to normal there. The goods and medicines of the people they need are being made available by the government. Restrictions have also been relaxed in some places. Additional security forces are deployed in many areas.
