For the first time in the history of the Congress it appears that even the close ranks of Congress are defying the party line on the policy matter except those few who have their personal interests or their political survival at stake over the party. Likes of Scindia, Hooda, Prasada, RPN, Mirdha, Deora and even the person whose father signed instrument of annexation come out in support of the government defying the party line.
Political analysts say that reaction of leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad when he shouted at the BJP MP to shut up has been testimony of the fact of his apprehension of becoming politically redundant. People like Azad have been playing the role of a so-called bridge between people of Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi akin to a middleman in the business transaction.
On the other hand people like Adhir Ranjan Choudhary in his attempt to show being more loyal than many others for favor showered on him by the Nehru-Gandhi family, he had hit many self goals harming not only himself but also the party. Karna Singh, the son of Raja Hari Singh, too favoured reorganization of the state. So the alienation of the Congress continues.
The Congress is wiped out from the entire north India and central India except Punjab in the West, decision like opposing Article 370 has further alienated the Congress from the general masses. The Congress will have to decide its priorities as if it wants to serve interests of people or parasites using the Congress platform for their own benefits unperturbed with the fact that their this shenanigans have brought the Congress to such far.
Leadership is known for taking decision boldly and indecisiveness gives it irreparable damage and the prevailing situation in the Congress suits many in the Congress but for the interest of parliamentary democracy, the Congress will have to rethink its policies and must not get hoodwinked by its such leadership who instead of contributing to the party contributing to themselves.
This is also not an old versus new generation as Karan Singh, Janardan Dwivedi, Bhubaneshwar Kalita belong to the older generation. Actually it is new aspirational generation that is making the difference which is realizing that only such leaders are responsible for sorry state of affairs of the Congress. Sooner their voice is heard by the Congress leadership better the Congress has chance of revival. But if the Congress ignores these voices, it will be on its own peril.
