Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recognized digital locker platforms and digital documents. Now you will be able to keep your personal documents online and give it to KYC if needed. The latest RBI circular on KYC states that e-documents issued by the authority to the customer’s DigiLocker account will now be accepted in the KYC process.
Digital locker or DigiLocker is a kind of virtual locker. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July 2015, although the rules related to it were notified in 2017. The government claims that once they upload their documents in the locker, they do not need to be physically kept.
To use Digital Locker or DigiLocker, you will need to create your account at https://digilocker.gov.in/. For this you will need your Aadhaar card number.
