JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda speaking to media sources said that JD(S) does not require the support of any party in the byelections. “I am not saying we will win all the seats,” Gowda said. “That will be decided by voters, but we will give our rivals a tough fight.”
“Nowadays, national parties are struggling to secure a mandate. Ours is a small party. We will compete hard in two constituencies in Belagavi district and in four or five seats in the Old Mysuru region,” Gowda said.
Gowda said chief minister BS Yediyurappa’s fate is in the hands of the BJP high command and he will remain CM as long as his party high command wants him to.
Hailing Yediyurappa’s efforts Gowda said, “When the state was hit by floods, he toured affected areas alone. No one was with him to give him support. It all speculation to say Congress leader Siddaramaiah will topple the government and that we will support the government. The truth is that the government’s longevity entirely depends on the blessings of the BJP high command.”
