Pakistan will participate in Afghan peace talks in Moscow : Mohammad Faisal

Pakistan said it would participate in a four-party dialogue on the Afghan peace process to be held in Moscow next month. There will be an attempt to resume the stalled negotiations through this dialogue. Russia, America, China and Pakistan are part of this group. Addressing the weekly press conference here, Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal said, “Pakistan will participate in the talks and will be represented by additional secretaries for Afghanistan and West Asia.”
Islamabad participated in the first phase of the talks held in Beijing in July. This was the third meeting of the Trilateral Forum consisting of China, Russia and the United States and Pakistan joined it for the first time. Faisal said, Pakistan has been a part of all efforts for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and will continue to play its role for it.
Earlier this month, a high-level delegation of the Afghan Taliban visited Pakistan. Incidentally, the visit took place at a time when US special envoy for Afghanistan Jalmay Khalilzad arrived in Islamabad. In September, US President Donald Trump decided to cancel a confidential meeting with the Taliban and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at Camp David, near Washington.
