The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, today. It is also the 116th birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of the country. PM Narendra Modi will visit Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. In Ahmedabad, he will declare the country free from open defecation. During this time, sarpanches of more than 20,000 villages will be present with PM Modi. To pay homage on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri ji, the founder of ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’, who embodies simple life-high thoughts. PM Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister of the country Lal Bahadur Shastri. Union Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah also paid tribute to Gandhiji. The Home Minister will launch Gandhi Sankalp Yatra from New Delhi on 2nd October, 2019.
Before Prime Minister Modi, several big leaders including UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader LK Advani, BJP National President JP Nadda reached Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
