Maharashtra Assembly elections : BJP released first list of 125 candidates

In Maharashtra, BJP and Shiv Sena have already released the list of most of their candidates before the formal announcement of seat sharing. The BJP announced 125 candidates between the tug-of-war battle and seat-sharing. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South West Assembly seat. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has also contested 124 seats and has declared candidates for 70 seats. BJP has released the first list, but there is still suspense on what is the alliance formula for the remaining seats. Let there be a total of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Releasing the first list at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, the party’s national general secretary Arun Singh said, “BJP, Shiv Sena and four allies RSP, RPI (Athawale), Shiv Sangram and Rayat Kranti Party will jointly contest. The coalition is set to be re-formed with a three-fourth majority. The candidates of 125 assemblies have been decided. We are releasing its list. The candidates of 12 assembly have been changed. Sitting has given ticket to 52 MLAs. It includes 12 women. ‘ Votes will be cast on 21st October for the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly with 288 members. The results will be announced on 24th October.
BJP leader Arun Singh said, ‘The glorious Chief Minister of Maharashtra, under whose leadership there is all-round development in Maharashtra, such Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South-West. BJP state president Chandrakant Bacchu Patil will contest from Kothrud assembly. ‘Apart from this, Shivendra Singh Bhonsle, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji, will contest from Satara assembly. Mukta Tilak, who comes from Lokmanya Tilak’s house, will be BJP candidate from Kasabeth Assembly. Atul Bhonsle, president of Pandharpur Vitthal Temple Devasthan, will contest from Karad South. With this, Udayanraje Bhosale, a descendant of Shivaji, has been given a ticket in the Satara Lok Sabha by-election.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received a major setback from the Supreme Court just before the assembly elections in the state. The court has approved the prosecution for allegedly providing false information against him in a 2014 election affidavit. In this case, the Supreme Court reserved judgment on 23rd July. Fadnavis is alleged that he did not give information about 2 criminal cases going against him in the affidavit given during the 2014 assembly elections. In this case, Fadnavis had got relief from the trial court and the Bombay High Court but the clean chit he got was quashed by the bench of CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose. In his affidavit, Fadnavis had mentioned the cases in which the lower court had framed charges.
