INX Media Case: Court sent P. Chidambaram into CBI custody till August 26

The CBI court has remanded former Union Finance Minister and Home Minister P Chidambaram to CBI custody till 26th August. Meanwhile, the court has said that Chidambaram’s lawyer and his family members can get 30 minutes daily. Not only this, the court has also said that the personal dignity of the victim should not be violated.
Earlier, his lawyer Kapil Sibal accused the CBI of needlessly arresting the night. He said that the agency did not interrogate Chidambaram at night. They were asked questions from 11:00 am. A total of 12 questions were asked to him. After Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said in favor of Chidambaram that in this issue only 6 officers who decided on FIPB are out of the grip.
Singhvi said that why the CBI is so restless and why they are intent on arresting them suddenly. Singhvi said that the CBI is adopting the wrong approach in this case, Chidambaram will not reply to it as per his wish. He said that he was questioned by the CBI in 2018 and then did not even call him.
Meanwhile, P. Chidambaram’s lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi demanded to let him speak. He got a chance to speak even after the protest by S. G. Tushar Mehta.
