Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019 on 14th August in Delhi. This survey, ranking the states and districts on the level of cleanliness, will be conducted in more than 87,000 public places for 45 days. Under this program, five public places will be surveyed in each village.
The survey will be held on 30th September, which will be three times larger than the previous survey. The survey is being conducted in 34 states and union territories. It covers about 700 districts and 17,475 villages.
In the year 2018, around 6,000 villages were included in this survey. Shekhawat also introduced an app, through which people can give their feedback on the survey. He said that the purpose of this exercise is to change the behavior of people towards cleanliness.
