Landslides at Coal Mine in Odisha, 4 died

Four workers are feared dead and nine have been injured in a landslide at a Coal India Ltd mine in Odisha, a company spokesman said.
India is considered a dangerous country for coal miners. According to government data, a miner died on an average every seven days in 2018 in the mines run by Coal India and Singarani Collieries Company Limited. Still, the series continues.
Dikken Mehra, spokesman of Coal India Mahanadi Kailfield Limited, says that this mine with capacity of 20,000 tonnes per day has been closed. It will take a week to operate again here.
India has many illegal mines, which are also in remote mountainous areas. These are not well with the tone of security. At the same time there is a lack of data on security, etc. as most of the cases are not reported. In December last year, 15 miners of Meghalaya got trapped in illegal coal mine. In Meghalaya, thousands of personnel including children, were killed due to the rat-hole mines.
