Last runners-up Indian junior men’s hockey team defeated hosts Malaysia by 4-2, making their winning debut in the ninth Sultan of Johor Cup. In India’s victory, Pratap Lakra scored two goals in the (19th) and (33rd) minutes while the other team goals were scored by Shilanand Lakra in the (39th) and Uttam Singh in the (60th) minute.
For Malaysia, Muhammad Hasan (8) and Muhammad Zainuddin (9) scored goals. India made a spectacular comeback after trailing by two goals in the first nine minutes and won the match by scoring four goals. The Indian team will next take on New Zealand on Sunday.
