Afghan Taliban releases 3 indian engineers hostage

The Taliban have left after releasing 11 of their members in exchange for three Indian engineers in Afghanistan. In May 2018, seven Indian engineers working at an energy plant in Afghanistan’s northern Baghlan province were kidnapped. One of these kidnapped people was released in March but no information about the rest was found. Three other engineers have also been released. Now three more are yet to be known.
The hostages were exchanged on Sunday, but information was not available on where they were executed. His release is the result of talks between the Taliban and the US. There was a meeting between the Taliban and US representatives in Islamabad in which the issue of the release of three Indian engineers imprisoned in Taliban custody was raised.
The exchange of prisoners was discussed in the Taliban meeting. Taliban members said Sheikh Abdur Rahim and Mawlavi Abdur Rashid of the Taliban have also been released. Sheikh Abdur Rahim served as governor of Kunar province and Abdur Rashid, rebel group in Nimroz province, before being ousted by US-led forces in 2001.
