Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia is helping China build a system to warn about ballistic missile tests. Only Russia and the United States have had such systems since the time of the Cold War. It consists of several ground-based radars and space satellites. This system is necessary for early detection of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Putin said at a conference on international affairs that Russia had been helping China develop such a system. This is a very important thing that will increase China’s defense capability comprehensively. His statement indicated a new level of defense cooperation between the two former leftist opponents.
