India’s star player Pankaj Advani on Sunday won the 22nd world title of his career with the fourth consecutive IBSF World Billiards title in 150 up format.
This is 34-year-old Advani’s fifth title in the last six years in the short format of billiards. Like last year, Advani registered an easy 6–2 win against local contender Nay Thway Oo in the final. Advani started the match brilliantly and soon took a 3–0 lead with breaks of 145, 89 and 127.
Nay Thway Oo won the next frame with breaks of 63 and 62. After this, Advani won the match easily with unbreakable breaks of 150 and breaks of 74, which led to satisfaction with the silver medal for the second consecutive year at Nay Thway Oo.
No player has won more World Q titles than Advani of Bengaluru. After winning the 22nd world title, Advani said, ‘Every time I take part in the World Championship, one thing is clear – there is no shortage in my motivation. This victory is proof that my hunger and the fire inside me is intact.
Advani will have to achieve the rhythm in snooker within 24 hours as he has to participate in IBSF World 6 Red Snooker and World Team Snooker Championship.
