Hindu communitiy’s temples, schools and shops vandalised in Ghotki city of Sindh province in Pak

After a minor student accused his Hindu teacher of blasphemy, mobs started vandalising Hindu communitiy’s temples, schools and shops in Ghotki city in Sindh province of Pakistan. Member of National Assembly (MNA) and patron in chief of Pakistan Hindu Council Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said that a thirteen-year-old student had accused his teacher Notan Das for uttering objectionable words against Prophet Mohammad. “The student went home and complained to his parents, who then met a local clergy MIan Mithu, who in turn spread the matter through loudspeakers in the town, thus fuelling the fire.
This was followed by the attacks on Hindu schools, temples and shopkeepers of Ghotki. “The mob vandalised Sant Sachhosatnadas temple and damaged other Hindu temples, they also damaged Naton Das’ school and shops of Hindus in Ghotki” he said. The Pak MNA claimed that the whole incident was a glaring example of misuse of blasphemy laws. Vankwani is MNA from Tharparkar which is about seven hours drive from Ghotki. Mian Mithu had been blamed for attacks and forced conversions of Hindu’s in Pakistan earlier as well, he said. He claimed that he himself handed over Naton Das to police but no action has been taken against the attackers of Hindu temples and shops.
