In a sudden accident major fire breaks out at ONGC’s gas processing facility in Navi Mumbai’s Uran. At least five people were killed and three others sustained burn injuries after a massive fire broke out in stormwater drainage. Fire tenders from ONGC, Dronagiri, JNPT, Panvel and Nerul were engaged in the firefighting operation. The Uran police have cordoned off the area at a distance of 2km.
There is no impact on the processing as the gas has been diverted to Hazira plant in Gujarat.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, fire tenders have been rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
The state-run company said that the fire was successfully doused within two hours by the firefighting team.
