Australia Test captain and wicketkeeper Tim Paine has said that the return of Steven Smith will strengthen the team and increase his chances of retaining the Ashes series. Smith was hit by Joffra Archer on the fourth ear of the third Test match of the Ashes series on the neck below the ear. After this he was retired retired and came back after some time. But later he got into trouble and was ruled out of the Test match. With Steven Smith not playing, I don’t think we gave the front team any chance to win. We were weakened by many without Smith.
