Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully entered Chandrayaan-2 into second moon orbit today. ISRO scientists made Chandrayaan-2 into the lunar orbit between 12.30 and 01.30 pm. Chandrayaan-2 will now revolve in the same orbit for 7 days. ISRO Scientific placed Chandrayaan-2 in the lunar orbit LBN-2 between 12.30 and 01.30 pm. Now for the next seven days, Chandrayaan-2 will now revolve around the moon in an elliptical orbit with 118 km apogee and 4,412 km perigee. After this, on 28th August, Chandrayaan-2 will be placed in the third orbit of the moon.
ISRO scientists successfully delivered Chandrayaan-2 into the first orbit of the moon on Tuesday, 20th August. ISRO scientists on Tuesday reduced the speed of Chandrayaan from 10.98 km per second to about 1.98 km per second. The speed of Chandrayaan-2 was reduced by 90 percent so that it does not fall under the influence of the moon’s gravitational force. The entry of Chandrayaan-2 into the lunar orbit on Tuesday, 20th August was extremely challenging for ISRO scientists.
Our scientists accomplished this with great efficiency and accuracy. On 7th September, Chandrayaan-2 will land on the south pole of the moon. Chandrayaan-2 was launched from rocket Bahubali from Sriharikota Launch Center on 22nd July. Earlier on 14th August, Chandrayaan-2 was put into Trans Lunar Orbit. It is expected that on 7th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will see Chandrayaan-2’s landing on the moon’s south pole live.
