New Zealand has placed four spinners in the 15-man squad for the two-Test series in Sri Lanka. With this series New Zealand team will start their own Test Championship campaign. The first Test match of the series will be played in Gaul from 14th August. In the Kiwi squad, Left arm Orthodox spinner Ajaz Patel and off-spinner Will Somerville are back for this tour while Mitchell Santner and Todd Astle have also been included in the team.
Kiwi coach Gary Steed has said that in view of the recent performance of England and South African teams touring Sri Lanka, it has been decided go to Sri Lanka with four spinners. The team has four fast bowlers in the form of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner and Colin de Grandhomme. Tom Bundell will be in the form of wicketkeeper and batting cover.
