DMK president M K Stalin said that the member of Parliament selected from the party are fighting for the cause of Tamil Nadu by raising their voice against issues posing threat to the state.
Addressing party cadres in a public meeting that took place in Veerapandi in Theni district, he said that many questioned what DMK MPs can do in the Parliament. He said that they have already created an impact in the Parliament by successfully stopping various things, which were against Tamil Nadu’s interest like imposition of Hindi and conduct of postal exam only in Hindi and English languages. They are also raising their voice against hydrocarbon, neutrino, Cauvery issue and privatization of Salem Steel plant. A large number of cadres from various others parties joined DMK in the presence of Thanga Tamilselvan, who recently switched to DMK from AMMK.
On the contrary, 39 MPs elected on behalf of AIADMK party in the last tenure failed to safeguard the interest of the state, Stalin added. They did not oppose various things including NEET.
Addressing the gathering, Thanga Tamilselvan said that people did not like TTV Dhinakaran. While AIADMK lost all the seats to DMK coalition in the recent general election, it managed to win only in Theni constituency. It was not because of the support of people, but because of money and muscle power. He claimed that hundreds of crores of money was spent during the election.
