Sardar Sarovar dam’s water level increases to 120.78 metres due to rainfall

Due to heavy rainfall in parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, water level in Sardar Sarovar Dam built over Narmada river at Kevadiya Colony has risen to 120.78. Storage of the dam having maximum water level of 140.21 metres was 1330.32 MCM, sources said. The water inflow into Narmada river was at the rate of 22,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, no significant amount of water was being released from the dam downstream and the outflow continues to be restricted around 600 cusecs as against minimum requirement of 1,500 cusecs. Meanwhile, water level in Karjan Dam near Nava Gam village too has increased to 98.78 metres because of good rainfall in Narmada district in the past few days, the sources added.
