Potable tap water will be supplied to 100% homes next 3 years by 2022 in State : CM Vijay Rupani

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani expressed confidence that in the next three years, by 2022, potable tap water will be supplied to 100% homes in the state.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the 3-day Chintan Shibir on ‘Nal-se-Jal’ organized by Gujarat government’s water supply department here, he said that an Action Plan has been made to achieve this feat in Gujarat, which will reach the target two years ahead of the Prime Minister’s dream of providing filtered water, health and educational facilities to all, by the 75th anniversary of Independence in 2024.
Rupani said that budget allocation has also been made for the Action Plan. The work to reach the last man in the last mile should not stop for want of funds. He described the Chintan Shibir being held at the right time for the right job.
He congratulated the engineers of the department for changing the image of a water-deficit state to a ‘Panidar Rajya’ in water recycling, reuse of treated water, water management and desalination. The engineers have made impossible things possible by taking water to remote areas of drought-prone Saurashtra and Kutch region with the help of water grid, pumping stations, etc. He regretted the state had to suffer from absence of basic amenities like water, gutter and light even after 60-65 years of Independence.
Principal secretary of water supply department, J P Gupta said that over 300 officers from 33 districts are attending the camp to discuss design-to-distribution to realize the dreams of the Prime Minister and CM.
