Gujarat Chief Minister Mr.Vijay Rupani had encouraged the entire administration to organize various competitions such as poetry writing, essay writing, slogan writing and short film competitions for the youth in order to make the ‘Maa Narmada Mahotsav’ an inclusive festival.
As many as 18,263 entries were received as a part of the same. There were three categories in the each competition, namely, students up to class 10th, students of class 11th and above and a general category wherein all the citizens could participate. Out of 7896 essays, there were 6580 essays related to Narmada Mahotsav. The highest number of participants (3252) were received from Amreli district and Vadodara (2614). It had been decided to award a cash prize of Rs. 25,000, Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10, 000 to the first, second and third position holders respectively.
The winners will be awarded the cash prizes on 17th September, 2017 during the valedictory ceremony of ‘Maa Narmada Mahotsav’ at Dabhoi. Mr. Rupani congratulated the winners and the participants and said that the wide scale participation is a testimony of the emotional attachment of 6 crore Gujaratis with the river Narmada and its sanctity.
The youngest winners are three girls aged 10 from a primary school at Jodhpur in Ahmedabad.
