BJP-ShivSena govt formed in Maharashtra, NCP to be opposition party : Pawar

There may be a reversal in the political equation in Maharashtra. While addressing the press, Sharad Pawar has announced that NCP will sit in opposition and BJP and ShivSena should form government in Maharashtra. The public has chosen us as the opposition. Therefore NCP will sit in opposition. Amid pullout from the BJP, senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar. After meeting Pawar, Sanjay Raut said that he is a senior leader of the state and the country. He is worried about the political situation in Maharashtra. Rajya Sabha member Raut had earlier said that his party wanted written assurances from the BJP on the sharing of power, including sharing the chief minister’s post for two-and-a-half years. He also claimed that sharing of the chief minister’s post between the BJP and Shiv Sena was agreed before the election.
On the other hand, the NCP said on Tuesday that a new political option could be considered in Maharashtra after the ShivSena announced its end of alliance with the BJP. Sources associated with the NCP had said that their party wants that Shiv Sena’s only minister in the central government, Arvind Sawant, resigns before proceeding with the ShivSena.
After meeting Sharad Pawar, Sanjay Raut has reached Matoshri to meet Uddhav Thackeray. Sharad Pawar can hold a press conference today. Sources say that Shiv Sena can form government with NCP while Congress can support from outside. The BJP does not want to give the post of Chief Minister to its ally Shiv Sena under any circumstances. The party will only agree to give a maximum of 40% to the Shiv Sena and 40% to the cabinet.
