Tremors were felt in areas adjacent to the east coast of Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan, measured at 6.1 on the Richter scale. The Japan Meteorological Department said a tsunami warning has not been issued due to the earthquake.
According to the Meteorological Department, the tremor was felt at 8:46 am Thursday and its center was at a depth of 10 kilometers from the surface of the Earth at 41.0 degrees north latitude and 143.1 degrees east longitude.
No major damage or injuries have been reported due to the earthquake yet. The department monitoring Japan’s nuclear centers has not reported any unusual situation at any nuclear power center.
