Chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure two-tier security in jails and added that officials in charge of the security would be held responsible in case of lapses.
The CM’s directions came during a review of the prisons department. CM ordered ban on mobile signals within a periphery of 100-150 metres of jails. Yogi further said that all visitors must pass in front of CCTV cameras while entering the jails.
The CM Adityanath said, The live feed from CCTVs installed in jails input should be monitored regularly by the prisons department.
New jails should be built about 20km away from the city.
The CM Adityanath said, Jail staff should be changed every two months to break the nexus between jail staff and inmates.
