After 72 years partition, Pakistan opens doors of historic Gurdwara Chowa Sahib for Sikh devotees

After 72 years partition of India, Pakistan opened the doors of historic Gurdwara Chowa Sahib located in Punjab province for Sikh devotees from different countries including India. This step has been taken in preparation for the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev in November. The gurdwara, which was closed after the Sikh community migrated from Pakistan in Jhelum district of Punjab province in 1947, was in a state of neglect. Gurdwara Chowa Sahib, located near the Rohtas Fort of World Heritage Site of UNESCO, opened in a grand program in the presence of many high officials and members of the community. The program started with the members of Sikh community ‘Aradas’ and ‘Kirtan’. Dr. Aamir Ahmed, Chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), who visited the holy places of minorities in Pakistan, was the chief guest of the program.
