In 2008 Malegaon blast case, the Bombay High Court has postponed the hearing on the application of Lt Col Purohit till 7th August. Special NIA court order has rejected his petition against the sanction for his prosecution under the UAPA Act.
Significantly, six people were killed and more than 100 people were injured in a bomb blast near a mosque on 29th September, 2008 in Malegaon, Maharashtra. In October last year, a special court had fixed charges under the UAPA against Purohit, Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and some other accused in this case.
