England defeated Australia by eight wickets in the second semi-final of the ICC World Cup-2019, played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, in the final. Australia had set a target of 224 runs in front of the hosts, which they got after losing two wickets in 32 overs. England have made it to the final after 27 years. For England, Jason Roy played 85 balls with nine fours in 65 balls. Captain Eoin Morgan scored 45 not out and Joe Root scored an unbeaten 49 runs. Johnny Bairstow contributed 34 runs.
Earlier, batting first, winning the toss, the current winner, Australia, succeeded in stealing Smith’s half-century off 223 in all 49 overs. Smith scored 85 off 119 balls and Alex Carri scored 46 off 70 balls. For England, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid took three and three and Jopra Archer took two wickets.
