Shakib Al Hasan Bangladesh 1st batsman to score 1000 runs in World Cup

Shakib Al Hasan continued his sublime touch as he became the first Bangladeshi batsman to score 1000 World Cup runs and just the 19th batsman overall to reach the landmark.
The left-handed batsman achieved the feat when he reached 35 against Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup match in Southampton on Monday.
Shakib then went on to register his fifth fifty-plus score in the tournament before being dismissed by Mujeeb Ur Rahman on 51.
The 32-year-old has been in exceptional form in the World Cup so far and he has proven to be a vital cog in the team’s batting lineup.
In Bangladesh’s first four matches, Shakib went on to score two half-centuries and two centuries. The left-hander played knocks of 121 and 124 in back-to-back matches against England and West Indies, respectively.
Shakib also displaced Australia’ David Warner to become the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 476 runs in six matches. Warner has scored 447 so far in six matches.
