With the help of half centuries from Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, the Indian women’s team defeated the West Indies by six wickets in the decisive third ODI to win the series 2–1. Mandhana, who was ruled out of the first two matches due to injury, scored 74 off 63 balls and shared a 141-run partnership with Rodrigues. Rodrigues scored 69 off 92 balls. India achieved the target of 195 runs in 42.1 overs. Earlier, Indian bowlers dismissed West Indies for 194 runs in 50 overs. During her innings, Mandhana became the fastest Indian woman cricketer to score 2000 runs in one day cricket. He touched this figure in the 51st innings. Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami took two for 30 and leg-spinner Poonam Yadav took two wickets for 35 runs. Fast bowler Shikha Pandey and leg-spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad took the opening wickets.For West Indies, Stafanie Taylor smashed 79, but could not get support from the other end. Stacy-Ann King scored 38 off 45 balls. This is Mandhana’s first ODI since the home series against England in February. He scored 63 and 66 against England in Mumbai. The two teams will now play a five-match T20 series which starts on Sunday at Gros Islet.
