Indian youth shooter Elavenil Valarivan won the gold medal in the women’s 10m Air Rifle event of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup. This is his first gold medal in the Senior Shooting World Cup. India’s Anjum Moudgil and Apurvi Chandela could not win any medals this time. In his senior year at the senior level, Elavenil beat his nearest Seonaid Mcintosh of Britain (250.6 points) to score 251.7 in the final and capture the gold.
Mcintosh received a silver medal. Lin Ying-shin of Chinese Taiwanese received the bronze medal. Earlier, Elavenil and Anjum had secured the fourth and fifth position in the qualification scoring 629.4 and 629.1 points respectively to reach the final. World’s top shooter Apurvi did not qualify for the finals and finished 11th with 627.7 points.
