Banas Dairy will be planted 21 lacs trees between July 25 and August 31 across Banaskantha district

Banas Dairy on announced a mega tree plantation drive where in 21 lacs trees will be planted between 25th July and 31sr August across Banaskantha district.
Banas Dairy chariman Shankar Chaudhary said, The drive is in collaboration with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and Gujarat government.
Banas Dairy chariman Shankar Chaudhary said, “There has been depletion in traditional water sources like wells, step wells (Vav) today. Village ponds have dried up which is threatening live of cattle. Vanishing forests have made it very tough particularly for animals and birds to survive.”
He sought cooperation from Banaskantha forest department, district collector and various NGOs and individuals to make the tree plantation drive successful.
“In 2018, a report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel Climate Change stated that the world has only 12 years to control the rising global temperature. If we fail, the results would be catastrophic. High temperatures will result in extreme heat, rising sea levels, famine and floods,” Chaudhary warned.
In the current monsoon season Banaskatha district has received 98 mm of rainfall so far while during the same time last year the district has recorded 1,080 mm rainfall against yearly average of 1,550mm.
