Telangana Chief Minister KC Rao has said that “Officials should gear up to lift 150 tmcft after completing works on three barrages and five pumphouses. From Kaleswaram to Kodad, farmlands should get Godavari water.” CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed irrigation officials and working agencies to complete the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) works and Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) rejuvenation works at the earliest to utilise the Godavari waters. He said lifting of Godavari water should begin in this month itself.
CM inspected Kaleshwaram and SRSP works on Tuesday at Medigadda and Rampur, and reviewed Kaleshwaram project works at Medigadda with officials. He also undertook an aerial tour of the works. Later, he inspected the barrage, examined the work on 85 gates and at five places of the coffer dam.
He asked the officials to conduct trial runs and advised them to construct permanent buildings for the department as the project needs to be monitored regularly. “Once the projects are completed, they will be named after gods or historically important Telangana names. The project will be inaugurated on an auspicious day,” KCR said.
