Along with city local body officers, highway authorities demolished 10 commercial buildings to resume construction of the railway overbridge at Leigh Bazaar in Shevapet of Coimbatore. Since the railway level crossing in the busy Shevapet caused frequent traffic congestion, the State government in 2014 announced the construction of overbridge. The Projects Wing of the State Highways Department began executing the project at a cost of 46.35 crore. The project included construction of 19 pillars and 21 concrete deck slabs. Land was acquired and works began.
