“You spent Rs 1.22 crore on your one-day stay in Chandaraki, including expenses on the dining and luxurious stay for you and your officials,” Yeddyurappa said at the release of a booklet, Grama Yatsavya, Shoonya Saadane (Village Stay, Zero Achievement). Opposition leader and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Monday tore into chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, contending that he spent Rs 1.2 crore on his Grama Vastavya (village stay) programme at Chandaraki in Yadgir district.
“I’ve been informed that you spent another Rs 1 crore on your stay in Aregudda in Raichur,” he said. “You should be ashamed of yourself for the lavish spending on your village stays.”
CMO officials, however, rebutted Yeddyurappa’s charges. “The deputy commissioner had planned the launch of several infrastructure projects in the village and it appears that [Yeddyurappa] added the costs for these events to expense on the village stay,” an official said.
