Officials said the intruders were intercepted in the Khari Tharayat forest when they were trying to enter India from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). “Two Army soldiers were martyred during the siege and search operation in Nowshera sector,” Lt Col Devender Anand, Public Relations Officer of the Indian Army in Jammu, said in a statement. Officials said the search operation was launched after receiving information about the activity of suspected terrorists. They said that the intruders started firing on the soldiers and two soldiers were killed during a fierce encounter. Officials said that a big campaign is being conducted in the area. A few days ago a ceasefire was breached by Pakistan in the Nowshera sector. During this time the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the firing of Pakistan. On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh had told that 160 terrorists were killed in this union territory in 2019 and 102 were arrested. He had also said that the number of local youth joining militant organizations had come down.
