On receipt of the complaint of fish kill in the river Amravati near Sarangpur motali road, N.H.No.8A, Ta.: Ankleshwar, Dist: Bharuch due to mixing of chemical contaminated water into river, on 8/11/2019 & 9/11/2019 Regional Office of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), Ankleshwar and the District Fisheries Department, Bharuch has visited the incidence site & collected water samples from the surrounding area and the incident site, also samples of dead fishes collected by Fisheries Department for indentifying root cause of incidence.
According to the preliminary findings, bund near the “C” pumping station in Ankleshwar GIDC area overflowed due to heavy rain on 7/11/2019 resulted into contamination in Amaravati river through Sarangpur khadi. The Regional Office of the GPCB Ankleshwar has issued notice to Notified Area Authority (NAA), Ankleshwar in this regard & directed to take immediate steps.
GPCB slammed notice for such type of incidence in past to the NAA with penalty.
