The date of the by-election for Hamirpur Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh has been announced. The by-election for Hamirpur seat will be held on 23th September. The results of the by-elections in this assembly seat will come on 27th September. Hamirpur Assembly seat is vacant after the termination of the assembly membership of BJP MLA Ashok Chandel. This seat has been considered empty since 19th April, 2019 by issuing a notification.
Notification for this was issued in compliance with the order of Allahabad High Court. 22 years ago, the High Court ordered the life sentence of Ashok Chandel to be upheld in the murder of 5 people. After surrendering on 13th May, BJP MLA Ashok Chandel is in jail.
